What you are describing is not social capital (See Robison et. al. for a definition). The concept originated with Adam Smith: social capital is the sympathy, empathy, trust, and regard one person or group has for an object of social capital. Linking, bonding, and bridging social capital have to do with the commonalities that facilitate the development of social capital. Unfortunately, social capital has become the ether that fills the universe, each disciple defining social capital to best fit their research goals. As a result, we have multiple and often conflicting social capital which as Robison and his colleagues note in most cases are not definitions (e.g. A=B) but instead describe where it lives, creates, alters, and can be used to achieve–nor do they satisfy the requirement of being capital or social.
